Bloodheir Publication Dates

Every so often I get an e-mail asking about the publication date for Bloodheir, book two in the Godless World trilogy. We're always eager to please around these parts, so here's the official update, freshly extracted from the horse's (i.e. publisher's) mouth.

The plan is to more or less synchronise Bloodheir publication around the English-speaking world. Winterbirth's appearance in the UK, Aus/NZ and USA has been staggered over about 12 months, but if all goes according to plan (which is never a 100% certainty, of course) Bloodheir will show up just about simultaneously in all those places around June 2008. It may appear a month sooner or later in one place than another, but any differences should be minor.

Barring unforeseen developments, by the way, Book 3 will follow approximately one year later. I guess it will also be coming out everywhere at basically the same time.

And that picture is a detail from the prototype of the Bloodheir cover, just as a bit of a teaser. Cool-looking dude, if you ask me. With a big spear.

Incidentally, although the official publication date of Winterbirth in the US is still a week away, it's in stock at Amazon.com . Buy! Buy! If you feel like it, obviously. No pressure.

Looking forward to it, Brian. It'll be nice to have the novels coming out simultaneously. Though the wait for your UK fans will be pretty brutal by the time it hits!

Any word on when ARCs might be available?

My question is this .. if Orbit is just publishing Winterbirth in mmp in the U.S. does this mean that books two and three will just be mmp format around the world when they are released? Will I have to order them from the UK to get hardcovers? I have the UK HC of Winterbirth and I really want books two and three in this format as well.

aidan: don't know a date for ARCs yet. The mysterious and shadowy details of book promotion (by mysterious and shadowy publishers) are something I don't pry into too closely, for fear of what I might uncover. I'd guess it'd be somewhere in the March/April ballpark, but that's definitely what you'd call an uninformed guess.

ben: I think that at the moment the intention is for Bloodheir to initially appear in the same formats as Winterbirth has, which would mean hardcover in the UK, trade paperback in the US and a UK-produced trade paperback in Australia, with (presumably/hopefully!) mmpb to follow in all those places at some later date. All of that may be subject to change or correction, of course, but it's a slightly more informed guess than my answer to aidan's question was.

Brian,

Great! I hope what you suspect comes to pass. I liked the first one and will be ordering the UK HC along with the UK TPB just as I did with WB. :D

Cheers! And hope all is well.
